Week of 13 October 2002
So how does one, for example, tell his/her boss, in a friendlier, more professional way, that "This company is too slow and unorganized to deserve full-time dedication so I'll be job-hunting. Can I put you down on my list of references? Can you please say nice things about me? Can I go back to this job if my new job back-fires, for whatever reason, random act of God or not?"
🚻
Can you type the word "overtime"?
My boss is such a dumbass.
It's five o'clock, time to get the hell out of work - and five minutes beforehand, she gives my co-worker some "corrections" to make on some publication she wants to send to the printers. Corrections, as in she made some changes after she got the papers back and is blaming my co-worker unfairly for the missing stuff. My co-worker, who had been sitting around with nothing to do for hours, is not pleased. I decided to stick around and help get the shit done, because ya gotta stick with the herd.
The page numbers are out of whack, and my boss tells me to white-out the old numbers and type over them with the manual typewriter. I'm like, is there some reason we can't go into the computer and change the page numbers? She mutters yes, so I go find this dusty relic.
They quit making typewriters for a reason. They suck! And all the while I have my boss over my shoulder, telling me that the page numbers are being put in the wrong spot, and she's making me retype them. So why doesn't she do it herself? No freakin' clue. So after straining my back hunching over this big-ass typewriter for a bit, she goes home.
My co-worker comes in to get the papers, and I ask her if she knows why the hell we can't type these page numbers in. She said, "She told me it was because the document is on a read-only CD."
So...WTF is keeping us from taking the document off the CD and putting it on the harddrive? WTF!?!?!?
My job is stupid, and my boss is a moron. Moo.
